Our Bodies. Our Hearts. Our Community.

“There’s a way out of this mess, and it requires each of us to begin with our own body. You and your body are important parts of the solution....Your body—all of our bodies—are where changing the status quo must begin.”

― Resmaa Menakem, My Grandmother's Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies

At Creative Strategies for Change, we all create justice through our bodies, our art and our action. We inspire movements toward liberation - in the body and in our community. We invite you to shake free, to go deep and to practice your purpose with your self, with your family and when we gather together.

2022 has been a time of challenge as well as remarkable growth at CSC. Thanks to our generous supporters and donors we have:

  • Hired Tamarra Nelson as our CO Director of Arts and Education, who will lead us into vibrant school and community partnerships, so we can grow our accessible youth programming.
  • Held our second Community Leadership Cohort (one for youth and one for adults) to bring participants deeper into the work of racial justice, creative expression and community care.
  • Created a brave space for community to gather onsite for our renowned All Genres Community Cypher and Open Mic, sharing art and food from local restaurants such as La Casita.
  • Retained our accessible space on the border of the Whitter and Five Points Neighborhoods, near public transit, and welcomed new partners Colorado Community Wealth Building and Project Voyce into shared space.
  • Restructured our vibrant team at CSC to bring more art and justice to the Denver area and beyond. Hiring on Keandra Hunt and Carlitta Howard as our Community and Youth, and Operations, Coordinators to build our capacity.
  • Held our virtual ACT (arts for change and transformation) youth programming. Giving access to mental health and art resources to ages 13-18.
  • Welcomed participants back for our first in person Facilitator Workshop since 2020.
  • Partnered with local artists in our devised theatre group Social Imagination. Debuting our play Reckoning on both a virtual, and in person, platforms to put art behind the impact of Covid 19. Later teaming up with Womxn From The Mountain for An Evening of Transformative Arts.

Our winter fundraising campaign is an invitation to be in community, just as we are. Funds raised directly support community and youth programs centering wellness and integrating social justice, arts engagement, and restorative practices.

Join us to celebrate the love at our December Community Cypher Open Mic, December 15 6:30-9 PM. All ages. All identities. All genres. Always lots of love! Hosted by our own Bianca Mikahn; In addition to the performances there will be yummy food and drinks, and more!

Your donation of any amount supports love, justice and mental health.
